POI (Points of Interest) files are used in SatNav devices such as those made by Garmin and TomTom. They contain
the descriptions and map co-ordinates of places that are of specific, rather than general interest.
The files can be easily loaded into the units
by following the instructions available on the manufacturer’s site and many independent websites.
Two formats are available for download, csv or ov2, and you should choose the correct type for your unit.
There are two POI files and associated bmp files packaged in each zip file; one lists locations in the immediate Bude area such as car parks, shops, petrol stations, the hospital,
banks and as many places we could think of that would helpful to a visitor to the town. The other has destinations within easy driving distance of Bude
that you may wish to visit in North Cornwall and North East Devon.
The csv format file has been tested in a Garmin Nuvi device and works well, although we have not been able to verify each and every location.
Please let us know if you find any discrepancies.
